USDA - RUS Extends Broadband Stimulus Filing Deadline, by 5 Hours

StimulatingBroadband.com 03/29/2010 San Francisco - The Rural utilities Service (RUS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced today that the agency will be extending by five (5) hours the application filing deadline of today for its portion of Round II of the federal broadband stimulus program.


The agency recently posted the following announcement on the joint agency federal site BroadbandUSA.gov:

"Monday, March 29, 2010

IMPORTANT: The Rural Utilities Service (RUS) is granting a deadline extension to file infrastructure applications during the second funding round. Applicants for BIP Infrastructure projects will have until 10:00PM EDT today, Monday, March 29, 2010, to submit their applications to RUS."

Anecdotal reports received by us indicate that applicants filing today, via the Easygrants electronic platform, are finding the application process slow, but that the platform has not collapsed, as it did repeatedly in August of 2009.  At the time, the filing deadline for Round I of the program was extended several times as a result of the severe technical dysfunction of the system.
