StimulatingBroadband.com 08/20/09 Yesterday, August 19, for the second time in one week, the two federal agencies administering the $7.2 billion broadband stimulus program within the larger $787 billion Recovery Act have issued a grant application filing deadline extension as a result of an overburdened online filing system.
In the second Federal Register Notice (download: .PDF) issued since the meltdown of the Easygrants™ electronic filing system became widely recognized last Wednesday, August 12, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) have allowed for manual delivery of application attachments until August 24, 2009 at 5:00 pm (ET).
Manual delivery, by hand and mail, of applications will only be accepted for those applicants whose "core applications" have been electronically filed on the Easygrants™ by the extended electronic filing deadline of today, Thursday, August 20, at 5:00 pm (ET).
The Notice defines the required "core application" "as all fields and questions in the application, not including the attachments listed in the "Uploads Checklist" of the "Uploads" page."
The Notice continues, "Any attachments that the applicant is unable to upload to the Easygrants™ System must be submitted by August 24, 2009, using one of the following methods of delivery: hand delivery, overnight express, or regular mail." StimulatingBroadband.com
